Every day is filled with difficult conversations. We must set boundaries with our manager. We have to deliver a negative message to a customer. We must provide tough feedback to co-worker.

This workshop provides effective and practical tools to help the participants prepare, plan, and deliver difficult conversations.

The consultants, the Project Managers, the Sellers, the Customer Representatives, the Middle Managers, and all the other customer facing roles – we all must do it.

We must carry the burden of trying to manage the expectation from our management with the expectations from the client. We have to take the abuse when a client takes out their frustration on us. We have to explain corporate policies and the fine-printed contractual agreements that was never explained to the customer before. We have to be the messengers of bad news, delayed deliveries, or unexpected issues and problems. And we must do all this with a customer-oriented mindset.

This workshop provides effective and practical tools to help the participants prepare, plan, and deliver difficult conversations.

The participants will bring their own business situation and problems and discuss the scenarios with other participants and discover ways to mitigate these challenges. We will provide constructive feedback on the approaches and discuss ways to increase the impact.

The participants will work in groups and will have a great opportunity throughout the session to expand their business network and learn about other participants businesses and areas of interests. Beverages and coffee will be provided during the session.

During the session participants will learn how to:

    • Effectively set healthy expectations with other people
    • Master different techniques for saying no and setting boundaries
    • Deal more successfully with frustrated or angry people
    • Communicate negative messages with clarity
    • Apply different techniques to a multitude of common work situations

    Agenda:

    • Introduction - What is a difficult customer conversation?
    • Techniques for setting boundaries
    • Top 15 approaches to saying no
    •  How to frame and deliver a negative message
    • How to deal with demanding, frustrated or angry customers and colleagues
    • How to not take things personally - tips & techniques

Snacks, beverages and coffee will be provided during the session.

SACC Arizona and SWEA Professional invites you to an informal Happy Hour Speaker event to make new contacts and gain new insights.

This time we feature cyber security expert and experienced speaker Rachel Harpley. She is the Founder of Recruit Bit, Arizona’s only recruiting agency focused 100% IT Security, InfoSec, and Cybersecurity.

She will help you protect your business and reputation against cyber threats.

She says: "Small businesses are the biggest targets in the lucrative industry of cybercrime. Attendees will learn the three top tips for securing their digital worlds as well as an introduction to the National Institute of Science & Technology’s (NIST) Cybersecurity Framework."

We’ll also discuss phishing and ransomware – and more importantly how to protect your business with tools like encryption. Once you know how to plan for the worst and implement your plan, your business has a resiliency built on information and processes rather than bitcoin ransoms.

Rachel will not be selling any products, but she will provide a multi-page handout complete with details, as well as numerous resources produced by the Federal Trade Commission to help protect your business.

Rachel Harpley serves at Arizona Cyber Warfare Range as the Range Recruiter with a focus on workforce development, and since 2016 Rachel has served as Chair of the Workforce Readiness Initiative of RAMPS grant awarded to Arizona by the National Initiative of Cybersecurity Education (NICE).

We live in a global world where our customers are everywhere. Running effective meetings both in person and virtually is a key skillset to communicate with customers and manage teams and groups

Participants will get practical training on several tools and techniques to effectively plan, structure, and deliver engaging and interactive meetings in person and virtually.

We live in a global world where our customers and co-workers are everywhere. Running effective meetings both in person and virtually is a key skillset to communicate with customers and manage teams and groups.

Still, most of us have endured poorly organized and run meetings in which the communication goes in circles, and nothing is accomplished. Virtual meetings make it even more difficult where you have to deal with time-zone differences, frequent technical issues, attention spans, and communication issues due to the missing face-to-face component.

Good meetings don't just happen. More preparation goes into "seamless" meetings than we often realize. This workshop will cover several tools and techniques to effectively plan, structure, and deliver engaging and interactive meetings in person and virtually.

We will discuss common meeting issues and problems together with other participants and discover ways how to best mitigate these challenges.

The participants will work in groups and will have a great opportunity throughout the session to expand their business network and learn about other participants businesses and areas of interests. Beverages and coffee will be provided during the session.

During the session participants will learn how to:

    • Effectively plan, prepare and execute business meetings, both in-person and virtual
    • Utilize common meeting techniques & language in their daily work
    • Use effective facilitation techniques to foster discussion, drive inclusion and resolve conflicts
    • Apply practical meeting management tools and recommended practices

    Agenda:

    • Common meeting mistakes and how to avoid them
    • Business Meeting Fundamentals – proven practices for all meetings
    • How to drive discussion and get everybody involved
    • How to resolve conflicts during team meetings
    • Virtual Meetings – what do we have to do differently?
    • Application, practice and feedback

Snacks, beverages and coffee will be provided during the session.
