SACC Arizona and SWEA Professional invites you to an informal Happy Hour Speaker event to make new contacts and gain new insights.
This time it is our distinct pleasure to have Dr. Bruce E. Rittmann from ASU talking about his work on environmental biotechnology.
"I was awarded the 2018 Stockholm Water Prize for my work in Environmental Biotechnology. Environmental Biotechnology involves managing microorganisms so that they provide sustainability services to society. Those services include cleaning up pollution, generating renewable resources, and improving human health," says Dr Rittmann who was awarded the prize together with Mark van Loosdrecht.
His talk will provide an introduction to Environmental Biotechnology and highlights of the events at the Stockholm Water Prize, which was awarded on August 29 this year by Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden.
Dr. Bruce Rittmann is the Director of the Biodesign Swette Center for Environmental Biotechnology at Arizona State University. Besides the Stockholm Water Prize, Dr. Rittmann has been recognized as a member of the National Academy of Engineering, a Distinguished Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, and a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors. Dr. Rittmann has 16 awarded patents, has published nearly 700 peer-review papers, and is a co-author of the internationally used textbook: Environmental Biotechnology: Principles and Applications (McGraw-Hill Book Co.)
