Promoting Trade, Commerce and Investments between Sweden and Arizona since 1996
[Self-guided run] Run a longwave to celebrate 100 years of wireless communication between Sweden and the US. This is the first Longwave Radio Run held in the US!
The distance - 10.8 miles - is chosen carefully. It is based on Sweden's Grimeton Radio Station SAQ longwave length of 17,4 km and 17,2 kHz. It’s not a marathon, not a half marathon or a 10K, it’s a unique Longwave Radio Run!
Included: A 10.8 miles self-guided run around Tempe Town Lake, t-shirt (limited sizes, first come first serve), one free beer after the race, and perhaps some surprises!
Schedule
8.00am -- Check in and warm up in the parking lot next to Hundred Mile Brewing. 8.30am -- We start running - preview the route here.
After the run we assemble at Hundred Mile Brewing for post-run conversations.
(Schedule subject to adjustments.)
Why a Longwave Radio Run?
We are celebrating a 100-years or wireless communication between U.S and Sweden! Grimeton Radio Station in Sweden was built in 1925 to communicate wirelessly with the U.S. It was added to the list of World Heritage Sites by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee in 2004.
Remember to tag any posts with hashtag #longwaveradiorun to appear among your newfound longwave running friends across Europe, and Sweden.
PS Registration fee proceeds benefit SACC programs and the GTAZ’s Young Diplomats program for high school students.
